First idea For Magazine

I decided not to continue making this front cover because it didn’t look very professional and the image looks to happy. Also it isn’t very conventional as you can see too much scenery because I have used a long shot. It does not look like a professional photograph and it looks like the characters have been photoshpped into the background. I am now planning on taking some more photos and put a picture of a friend as if it is the director on the front cover.

audience feedback

I made a group on facebook and invited people to privately watch my trailer and for them to fill in my survey. i also made a comment for them to tell the truth about what they think.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_GB&pli=1&formkey=dFM5UFdTLTl5eTlIVV9yUWlwRXpCemc6MQ#gid=0

this is the survey i made for people to fill out.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjmVsVFPdpPtdFM5UFdTLTl5eTlIVV9yUWlwRXpCemc&hl=en_GB&pli=1#gid=0

and these are the results presented in a spreadsheet.

Poster Flat Plan

I have chosen to have the working title logo because my actors will not be well known and even putting a director’s name this would not persuade people to watch the film. I have chosen working title because they are mainly known for producing great romantic comedies.
The pictures are separated because they are not together and the white in the middles shows this.
For the film title I will use the same text and font as it is in the trailer.
I am going to put a white strip in the middle because it separates the couple, as in the film the girl moves away.

Main Inspiration

This is my favourite poster out of all of the inspirations I have had. This is because the girl doesn't look very happy and the boy is trying his best to keep her happy, also they are sitting in front of a tranquil background. This fits in very well with my genre because the couple aren't very happy together as the girl is moving away. Also because the boy is the one trying make the relationship and in my film the boy is concerned incase their is a break up.

Trailer

This is the first draft of trailer. The change I can instantly see is to make sure you can hear the dialogue. I will find out any other changes from my teacher and audience feedback. As i ran out of time it was impossible to make changes to my trailer although i believe it was only smnall issues with sound that could have been improved.

location ideas

Hetton Bogs Nature Reserve

Herrington Country Park

Penshaw Monument

These are all good locations that i could use because they are of nice scenery around my local which i could easily access and create a romantic atmosphere. i wouldn't just be filming outside but i would also use houses because it would be a good idea to use a home mise-en-scene for part of my trailer. There could be a problem with these locations because the weather is very unpredictable and i may not be able to film when i had planned.

ideas for soundtrack

Leona Lewis - Footprints In The Sand
I have chosen this as a song idea because the lyrics have words in them that suggest a couple being a part and they are together. These lyrics are "I promise you
I'm always there
when your heart is filled with sorrow and despair
I'll carry you
when you need a friend
you’ll find my footprints in the sand".

Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
I have chosen this as a song idea because the song's lyrics talk about how the man doesn’t want to lose the woman and in my film the boy is afraid that when the girl moves away they will break up.

Westlife - The Rose
Finally I have chosen this song as an inspiration because the music is very slow and has passionate, romantic lyrics. It is very poetic which could link to the theme of love and also links to my film because when the couple are together they have a happy time.

The song I have chosen to use for my trailer is Leona Lewis because it has lovely and kind of suggests a separation.

Storyboard / Script

The complication scene
Becca: David I’ve got something I need to tell you.
David: what’s up? Are you okay?
Becca: I don’t think we can still be together
David: why? What’s happened?
Becca: I'm moving away!
David: why? Where are you going?
Becca: I am going to study at university away from here.
David: we can keep it going, we cannot end it, and we have had so many good times.
Becca: but I will be very busy
David: we can make it work

Talking on the phone
A split screen of the couple both on the phone talking to each other. the girl is walking over the bridge in the town centre of durham next to the river. the boy is walkking past the river bank. i have done it this way so it looks like they are both in different locations.

david: so i should meet you at the train station tomorrow?
becca: yes i'll be there, the train will be in the station for two in the afternoon.
david: okay see you then, i love you
becca: i love you too.

Target Audience

I aim to get a range of people to watch my film, it will mainly be young woman aged around 16 - 28 who don't already have children. It could be a single woman who wants to look at how the couple fall in love and hope the love story could also happen to them. The woman could be in a relationship because they want to compare their own relationship to the relationship in the film. There could also be a secondary audience of men, who are of the same age, who are watching the movie with there girlfriend or partner and they could also link this love story to there personal relationship.

Audience Feedback On Research And planning

These are a set of post it notes from people in my class to tell me what they think about my research and planning. From what the people in my class told me I made some changes to my blog. I took into account what people had set to me such as they told me to look at specific films and to add other posts such as the storyboard. The things I will need to change are make my research needs to be in more detail and I need to why my inspirations are inspirational. I will also need to include other posts such as a risk assessment.

I have changed my plot !!

Due to the fact my cast are below the age of the cast in a typical romantic film and the resources that I have available to me I have decided to keep the genre but change the plot slightly. There will be two parents who introduce the young couple to each, the couple are resistant to falling in love. when they begin to start and fall in love, the girl reveals she moving away to study at a university far away and the couple are unsure if they can carry on there relationship. The couple put their difference aside and they begin the live a long distance relationship and they plan to travel to see each other as much as they can.

MOOD BOARD

When i first started i had two ideas which were to either make a film based on Kidulthood or a film trailor based loosely around the film The Holiday. The idea i have chosen to use is idea 2 based on the Holiday because i will find it easier to film and i will not need any extra props. also i have chosen idea 2 because i am more interested in the romantic genre and i will enjoy making it more than if i made another genre.

a few inspirations

Love actually - I have chosen this as an inspiration because it does not just involve the main characters but also the family and friends of the couple. This is useful to me because I would like to briefly include a few of my friends and also the couple are introduced to each other by their parents.
Going The Distance - A romantic comedy centred on a guy and a gal who try to keep their love alive as they shuttle back and forth between New York and San Francisco to see one another. This will be useful for me because the couple in my film face the troubles of a long relationship just the couple in this film. I will take some the location ideas to make my film look more realistic.
You've Got Mail - The reason this is an inspiration is because the reason the couple together initially is due to the fact they start chatting on instant messaging. The couple in my film did not know each other initially and in you've got mail they didn’t realise the instant messaging was between them and they were good friends already. I like the idea of the love being secret at first until the couple get it know each other. I also like the idea that the couple stay together even though they realise it may harm their friendship and this links to my storyline because the couple in my film have a struggle to stay together.

Idea For My Plot

A girl has been in a serious relationship for three years, until she realises her boyfriend has been sleeping with the receptionist from work.. In another town near by there’s a boy who is still madly in love with his ex girlfriend who now has a new boyfriend. They both come up with the same solution to go on holiday and book into the same bed and breakfast for a week. The pair first set eyes on each other when they both stand in the reception to book in at the same time. the boy and girl both go to the same pub on their first night and they agree to go out together the next night and this when they fall in love. Close to the end of the film they agree to visit both towns as much as they can. The final scene would be the boy and girl in the boy's house having a romantic meal and having fun.

Chosen Brief

The brief i decided to complete is a promotional package for a film with the teaser trailor along with a film magazine cover and a poster for the film. The reason i have chosen this is because i think it would enjoy to make a film rather than the other options but it could be difficult to get a good grade from producing a full short film. The genre i have chosen is romance because one of my favourite film genres is romantic comedy, although i think i may find it hard to make my trailor funny so i stuck with romance alone.

Reflection on AS

For my as coursework I made the first 3 minutes of a film. I worked as part of a group
of three and I didn’t really have a specific role, I mostly worked on the research. I
believe that we had very good finished product, although we didn't work well as a
group. It took us a while to come up with the idea and we ended up changing the idea
and had the do the research and planning again. I did not have a big role in the making
of the actual film so I only have little knowledge of the software. With regards to
digital technology and creative since my role was very marginal I didn't get a huge
chance to express these. I mostly worked on the research and planning so this means i
used conventions from real media texts. Due to this, in my second year i have decided to work on my work and create my own film trailor.
